Inspection and Testing of Fixed Wiring Installations
Our company provides electrical test and inspection services for commercial, domestic and industrial clients.
Fixed wiring systems degrade over time. This can be due to environmental factors – heat, sunlight, moisture etc. or physical factors – vibration, impact etc.
Fixed wiring systems become out of date. Updated regulations, new safety products, improved techniques for efficiencies and safety etc.
An inspection and test procedure called a Periodic Inspection Report is, as it says, required periodically to ensure the system remains safe and to compare the systems properties with current regulations.
The periods between testing varies according to the users of the system, the environment it is exposed to and the type of installation. Typical periods are:
- Domestic installations – 10 years or change of occupancy
- Commercial and letting – 5 years or change of occupancy
- Industrial - 3 to 5 years or change of occupancy
The period is determined by the inspector and is dependent on many factors for instance a swimming pool’s electrical system may require testing every 3 months.
